Golf

Golf was first introduced into Spain by the British in the late 19th Century – here in Andalucia.

Remarkably, you can choose to play in a wide variety of landscapes, ranging from desert through mountains to the stunning coastline offered by the Costa del Sol.

Although Nerja itself doesn't have its own course, there are a number of excellent golf courses within 15-45 minutes' drive away.

All of the courses mentioned offer a variety of challenges and good on-site facilities, including restaurants. Bookings can be made online, by telephone or by fax. However we ourselves do not get involved in making bookings.

Where they are situated is shown on the map below (which can be zoomed in on to show the exact location; resize using the top link above). The following pages then contain further details of the first five of these.

Heading west from Nerja we first of all come to Baviera Golf, followed by Añoreta Golf. Further west still, and close to Málaga airport is the coastal Parador Malaga del Golf club and, further inland, the Guadalhorce Club de Golf. Heading out from Nerja in the other direction, to the east, and close to Motril, can be found the Los Moriscos Golf Course.

Finally, and as already mentioned, our companion website RuralGranadaVillas lists a variety of wonderful accommodation in the countryside around Granada. This isn’t exactly golf country in its own right, but there are two excellent courses located just to the south west of the city of Granada. For further details see GranadaClubdeGolf.com and SantaClaraGolfGranada.com. The locations of these two courses can be seen on the map below, just to the west of the city of Granada itself.

As a final suggestion, if you think that you might make regular visits to Nerja to play golf, then you might consider joining GINS - the 'Golf International Nerja Society'. If nothing else, their website gives lots more information on the courses in the area, and their current offerings.
